About Us

Mission and Purpose

To help reduce the unnecessary euthanasia of adoptable cats, to reduce the cruelty to and neglect of cats and to educate the general public in cat related issues.

The Cat Shack is a no-kill, non-profit, 501(c)3 tax-exempt cat rescue organization. We attempt to find permanent homes for stray and unwanted cats and kittens.

Prior to adoption, all cats are neutered/spayed updated on required vaccines. All our cats are tested for Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and Feline Immuno deficiency virus (FIV).

The Cat Shack serves to place 3 CATegories of needy cats:

  • Friendly Strays and kittens looking for safe, permanent indoor homes.
  • Feral (wild) Strays who are not suitable for inside homes and who seek safe, permanent barn homes where they can be employed as mousers. There is no adoption fee for barn cats though donations are appreciated.
  • In an effort to help people place pets that they can no longer keep for some reason, we will post the cats picture/story and the owner's contact information. These cats are NOT being adopted through The Cat Shack and the adopter will deal directly with the owner. These cats will have a * symbol next to their names.

What We Do

The Cat Shack is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization designed to help find homes for cats in need and aid in the fight to end pet overpopulation. Over the years, it has grown to become a large group of devoted volunteers who offer monthly low cost spay/neuter/vaccinations for feral and domestic cats, foster care to over 100 cats and kittens while they await their forever homes, bottle feeding for abandoned infant kittens, medical care, and of course, tons of love and affection.

Many cats come to us as strays, orphans and unfortunately, sometimes as unwanted pets. Prior to adoption, we neuter/spay all cats and kittens, bring all required vaccines up-to-date, and test for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immuno deficiency virus. All animals in The Cat Shack program are kept until they find homes.
