New picture!  Ringo and Bingo are now 5-months-old and neutered!  These boys are so loving and sweet.  They purr non-stop and just can't wait to find their perfect home.

Update and new pics!  Ringo and Bingo were originally rescued from the euthanasia list at a local shelter and are now 3 1/2 months old.

Bingo is such an active, playful gray tabby and white kitten!  He loves to snuggle, but he loves racing around the house even more!  Bingo has been such a wonderful brother to Ringo while Ringo recovered from a borken pelvis and nerve damage that now the Ringo is all healed up, we hope to see the boys get a home together.

We have wonderful news about Ringo:  Ringo's pelvis is now healed and his nerve damage appears to be resolving.  He is racing around with his brother Bingo and using his leg and foot appropriately.  Ringo and Bingo have been cleared for adoption and will make wonderful pets. These boys are FeLV/FIV negative, vaccinated, dewormed, vet checked and will be neutered as part of the adoption.

Previous Update- Thank you to all of the generous people that donated to help Ringo and his brother Bingo! Ringo is in foster care with his brother now and on cage rest (as much as a active kitten will rest!). He's doing very well from the standpoint of eating/using the litterbox and acting like a normal, happy kitten, but it appears that he has sustained some nerve damage to his one rear leg. While X-rays show that the 2 breaks in his pelvis do not interfere with his hip/leg, he seems unable to properly use his right rear foot, he does not react to pain stimulus to his toes and tends to walk by knuckling-over on his foot. It's too soon to tell if he will regain more function as he heals, so for now he is receiving anti-inflammatory medication and being monitored regularly by the vets at Perkiomen Animal Hospital.  Follow his udpates at gofund.me/3ug8ydf3k6p

Original post August 1, 2015:
I felt that familiar clenching feeling in my stomach when I saw the Urgent List come in from a local shelter.  So many cats, so little time to save them.  Worse yet, we didn't work through all the other help e-mails to this list until 7:48PM, just 12 minutes before the 8:00pm euthanasia deadline.

Surely, we told ourselves, other rescues and individuals had already stepped up for the cats on this list?  Still, we thought we would just inquire to be sure.

At exactly 7:59PM, we received the reply: "Hi Theresa,

Ringo and brother have not found rescue. Are you able to rescue these sweethearts?

Thanks!
Tammy"

Our foster homes are very full,  Ringo had a suspected serious medical issue with his back end, we really shouldn't....

But we DID!  Welcome Ringo and Bingo to the Cat Shack!

Ringo (Orange and White kitten) was having obvious pain and was not able to walk on his hind leg.  He was also having problems going to the bathroom while at the shelter.  Cat Shack vet Perkiomen Animal Hospital performed x-rays on little Ringo and found that his pelvis is broken in 2 places.  Luckily, his pelvis is not crushed and he started to eat and use the litterbox once he started to receive pain meds.  Both he and his cute brother Bingo have colds so they are also receiving eye ointment and antibiotics.

Please help The Cat Shack, Inc to help kittens like Ringo and Bingo by making a tax deductible contribution to this 501(c)3 non-profit organization.  Ringo and Bingo's care has already topped $300 .  The vet projects that the minimal care for Ringo until he heals will be close to $500.

Ringo's injuries, thankfully,  should heal and he can look forward to a wonderful life with his brother Bingo.  With only 1 minute to spare in an over crowded shelter he was saved,  thanks to spared plea for help, a commitment by the Cat Shack rescue and wonderful transport volunteers.  Thank you!

Good with Cats, Good with Kids

Bingo must be adopted with his brother, Ringo (adopted).

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.

The first step in adoption is to...

Young KITTENS are always adopted in Pairs or to homes with other felines already in the home. Click here to read why kittens are happier with a buddy!

All cats are vaccinated, dewormed, tested and altered as part of the adoption contract. This basic care (and other vet work required to make our rescues healthy) is included in the $85 adoption donation!
