Yorkie is now spayed, vaccinated, tested neg for FeLV/FIV and all ready for her new home. During her time in foster care we learned that she quickly adjusts to new situation and warms up to other pets in no time. She still prefers to follow people around like a puppy, but cats and dogs are OK after she gets to know them. She is very talkative- which includes meows, grumbles and murmurs. She is just about the nicest foster we have had for a while!

Yorkie got her name because she dashed across 2 busy lanes of traffic on York Street in Philadelphia to jump into the arms of an unsuspecting rescuer. This young, beautiful gray tabby was roaming the streets and caught the eye of a cat shack volunteer that was in town visiting family. Somehow the cat knew a sucker…um…. rescuer when she saw her and the cat bolted across the street. She was nearly hit by 2 cars but, by some miracle, she avoided death and dashed under the parked cats to the Cat Shack volunteer. After everyone caught their breath, there was little choice but to take the kitty on the long ride back to Allentown.

Most cats would have been a bit nervous after such a long and bumpy ride, but York had only one interest: Food! This skinny cat ate like she had never eaten before, with purrs between gulps. Needless to say, she seems happy to be rescued.

Yorkie loves to be held and will “kneed” contentedly while in your arms. She is very young and kittenish, so she likes to play and is very talkative. She has a beautiful face with huge amber eyes and a striking gray tabby coat. Her body is sleek and lean and she walks with her tail held proudly in the air. We will update this posting as we get to know her better.

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.
