Jan 20, 2005: Although Victor was doing very well for the last 3 months, he had a very sudden turn for the worse 2 weeks ago when we noticed blood in his urine. An ultrasound showed us that his cancer had returned and although he seemed to rally after treatment with antibiotics and drugs to shrink the tumor, he quietly passed away 3 days after the tumor was discovered. We will miss this wonderful cat and we are happy he had a few extra pain-free months to spend with his foster family.

Update 10/16/04

In September, Victor went to our vet for an ultrasound after he had what at first seemed to be a reoccurring bladder infection. The vet determined that Victor had a mass in his bladder, so The Cat Shack OK'd surgery to have this mass removed.

Victor has become a different cat since the surgery! He has always been a sweet cat, but he is now clearly happier. This poor guy must have been smiling through the pain for a long time before the surgery because he now has an extra spring in his step, lots of purrs and a new zest for life! The biopsy results indicate the mass was a form of cancer, the vet worked hard to remove all of it and his prognosis is good. Although they can never be 100% sure that it will not reoccur, we truly believe the surgery was good news for Victor. This rather expensive surgery is already completed and behind him and now he is MUCH happier and healthier. We hope and expect that he will have an active, normal life with a wonderful owner to call his own.

Personality wise he is really a cool cat. He gets along with other cats, although he isn't particularly bonded to any of the other cats in his foster home. We do think he misses his brother who was adopted while Victor was going through his surgery, but Victor seems OK without him as long as he has human company. He totally ignores the foster dogs and seems to like the human baby in the house. His main interest is hanging out with the adult foster humans and he just loves the opportunity to lay on the sofa, purring like a motor boat.

8/21/04- Victor is such a character! He has won the hearts of his foster people with his silly antics and playful nature- he is SO ready to warm the heart of his own family. He loves to explore and doesn't seem to let anything intimidate him, even the 2 large dogs in his foster home. Victor is a little smaller then his brother Meekos, but he is a little more forward. Like his brother, Victor likes to sleep at the foot of the bed and is a very affectionate kitty. These two boys really want and deserve a home of their own- they are just too nice to be sequestered in a "foster room" when they have so much to offer as family pets!

7/17/04- Meekos and Victor were removed from their adoption cages at petsmart in Whitehall and spent some time in a foster home recently. They had full run of the house and were perfect house guests! The boys started sleeping in bed with their foster people and they loved playing with the 3 year old daughter. These boys will make perfect additions to any household!Original post

Meekos and his brother Victor are oriental mixes, 8-9 year old, front declawed and neutered. Meekos is the bigger brother, talky, with a narrower face and very mild mannered. This is the type of cat that will lay out of sight until you come into the room and then follows you around and stand up on his hind feet to rub his head against you! Victor is more compact, more outgoing right from the start and very friendly. He is also "talky". Both boys have long legs and long, sleek tails.

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.
