About Rosalie - Adopted! | |
|
|
Rosalie is a timid but very sweet dark tortoiseshell now about 3 years old looking for a special owner. One of two kittens born outside to a feral mother, Rosalie had a serious eye infection as a young kitten which was never treated. By the time the people feeding the small family sought help getting the cats spayed, one of Rosalie's eyes already had a ruptured cornea. Rosalie has limited sight in the other eye, but that eye is clouded over and it is possible that Rosalie may eventually lose all vision. We would very much like to find Rosalie a loving home to which she can become acclimated now so that things will be easier for her if she ever does lose all vision.
When Rosalie was first taken in by The Cat Shack, she was extremely frightened and was considered semi-feral. Since that time, she has made tremendous progress due to intensive efforts to work with her by her very special current foster Mom. Rosalie now begs her foster Mom for petting and attention and enjoys it so much that she rolls on her side in delight. She is currently residing in a cage, but is now ready to take a big step forward by enjoying more freedom in a small room.
If you have time, love and patience to offer a sweet little cat with special needs, please consider Rosalie.
UPDATE 12/27/02
For the past several months, Rosalie has been allowed outside her cage to roam in her foster mother's garage & attached basement. Rosalie gets along with all the other foster kitties running free: from a 4-month old kitten to cats several years older. She loves her new-found freedom & the other foster kitties. No one picks on Rosalie or hisses at her. Perhaps they are aware of the everyday challenges Rosalie faces due to her impaired eyesight. She is a very bold kitty, though, despite having limited vision. She doesn't back away from anything strange, preferring instead to cautiously "ferret up" to the object & explore it from different angles & locations. On more than one occasion, Rosalie has managed to sneak up inside her foster mom's house, where she makes herself quite comfortable. In the evening when dinner is served to the foster kitties, Rosalie makes her way to her own cage & hops in, patiently waiting to be served. She reaches up to stretch on her scratching post every night before dinner. After dinner, Rosalie can be found curled up in a ball in one special corner of her cage sleeping the night away. Rosalie is a sweet lady, and although she does not like to be picked up, she is very gentle & intelligent. Please don't let this beautiful cat live out her life in foster care. She deserves her own person who can dote on her everyday & a home where she can lay in the sun on a couch or bed.The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home.
