1-22-04 Wait until you see this gorgeous creature! Despite Lily’s tragic story, she is one of the most loving, beautiful cats her foster mom has ever known. Lily is an all-white, long-haired female with yellow-green eyes, and the faintest purplish-black smudge on the top of her head. She is estimated to be about two to three years old, but she only weighs about 5 lbs at the moment, so she looks like a kitten.

Lilly was found on a freezing cold morning two weeks ago with her head stuck in a chain link fence. The fire company had to be called to cut Lily out of the fence. The woman who found Lily then took her straight to an emergency hospital where they refused to treat her without payment upfront. Because Lily’s rescuer could not afford the treatment, and could not keep a cat in her home, she called The Cat Shack to ask if we could help this poor girl.

When Lily arrived at her new foster home her ears were still frozen solid, as were parts of her paws, tail, and nose. She was emaciated, filthy, and scared.

Because of the extreme frost bite, Lily will lose parts of her ears and 2/3rds of her tail. Even so, she will still be absolutely beautiful. She is now happily living indoors, eating lots and using the litter box without fail. She loves to be carried around like a baby and will sit in your arms for long periods, looking up at you with adoration while you read or relax. She is on antibiotics to prevent infection from the frost bite, and will be spayed (if not already) when she has fully recovered and gained a few more pounds!

We don’t know how Lily survived her ordeal, but we are so grateful that she did. If you can provide Lily with a quiet, warm, loving home, and if you are able to afford the extra veterinary care that she might need as she recovers, please contact us! Lily will be ready for adoption in 2-4 weeks, and her pictures will be posted as soon as possible.

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.
