Sometimes wonderful cats come into foster care but get passed over for adoption and remain foster cats for an extended period of time. Perhaps they are not as flashy or outgoing as others, or have some minor imperfection or are no longer youngsters. They are nonetheless beautiful cats who deserve real loving homes of their own and have much to offer. Sweetie and Goldie are two such cats.

Sweetie is a five year old dark tortoiseshell whose name reflects her personality. Sweetie appeared as a stray at the home of kind people and enjoyed free food and soon had a litter of kittens. She was then spayed and vaccinated and remained living outside at her chosen home, along with Goldie, one of her kittens, now four years old, a beautiful dark classic tabby with patches of deep gold mixed throughout her coat and a beautiful big round face. Unfortunately, Sweetie was hit by a car and suffered a fractured jaw and injured eye. Her owner raced her to the vet and then nursed her through her recuperation. Sweetie’s jaw healed up fine but she lost vision in the injured eye and it now tears slightly.

Following the accident, Sweetie and Goldie spent much of their time inside an enclosed sunroom and acclimated very well to that. A house cat already owned by the people would not tolerate their presence in the rest of the house. Finally, the elderly couple sold their home and were unable to take Sweetie and Goldie along with them. They came into foster care with The Cat Shack in early 2004 where they have been waiting for permanent homes ever since.

Sweetie and Goldie are both mild mannered cats who love to be petted. Sweetie will probably end up a lap cat when given the opportunity. They will be on the shy side initially when adopted, especially Goldie, but will blossom as they feel secure in their new homes. Both get along with other cats extremely well. It would be wonderful if they could be adopted together but they will not be traumatized if they need to go their separate ways. Please consider opening your heart and home to one or both of these sweet cats. They hope they will not be forgotten forever.

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.
