New update- Izzie originally came into the Cat Shack's care when his owner, Norm, lost his home of many years to foreclosure. Izzie was Norm's buddy. It was difficult for Norm to give up this big, sweet cat, but he was thankful that Izzie had a place to go other then a loud, scary shelter were he might be at risk of euthanasia. As it turns out, Izzie's was lucky to find a spot in foster care for many reasons! After entering foster care Izzie was found to have a suspicious mass in his ear so he was sent to Perkiomen Animal Hospital to have the mass removed. Flash forward several months and Izzie has been through 2 surgeries to remove a Ceruminous gland adenocarcinoma. Now, cancer-free, he can look forward to a wonderful life in a new home.
Izzie's initial surgery was performed at Perkiomen Animal Hospital in Palm and involved removal of the mass, biopsy and treatment of the infection around the growth. This surgery and vet care totaled $762.25 and we had hoped that it would be the end of Izzie's problems. Unfrtunately, when the biopsy showed that the mass was a locally invasive carsinoma were were told that he needed another surgery or the cancer could come back. Because this is a delicate surgery, the vet office treating Izzie suggested that we utilize a specialist for the 2nd surgery which included a total ear ablation and a Ventral Bulla Osteotomy.
Izzie is an otherwise healthy 5 year old cat and we knew we had to give him a chance so we scheduled this $1200 to assure that Izzie would be around a long time.
Thanks to the very generous donations of many like the people listed below, the Cat Shack was able to raise the funds to give Izzie the care he so needed.
As you can see from his picture above, Izzie visited Santa recently and his only wish for Christmas is to find a permanent loving home!
The following Donators made it possible to help Izzie by donating directly to Izzie's vet care, or through donation to the "prudence memorial fund" to help needy cats in the Cat Shack foster system:

Update- Izzie is now in Cat Shack foster care! He is FeLV/FIV tested (neg), vaccinated, dewormed and treated for fleas. When Izzie came to the Cat Shack our vets determined he had a mass in his ear that needed to be removed and biopsied. Izzie has now had the surgery and is doing great!
