10/13/10 This handsome guy we call "Henry" has the most outstanding personality!  Everyone who meets him falls in love instantly.  Henry, with his beautiful orange with cinnamon swirls coat, showed up as a stray at someone's house where they continued to feed him and decided to take him to the vet to be neutered.

When they found out he was FIV+, they no longer wanted to love him anymore and in fact asked for him to be euthanized.  Henry had won the hearts of this entire animal hospital so they refused to put him down.  Yeah for Henry!!

Henry is now in foster care with us and awaits his new home.  He is neutered, current with vaccines and very healthy.

FIV is a very slow progressing immune difficiency and what most people don't realize is that most cats with FIV live a very normal, long, life when kept indoors and on a healthy diet.  It is also believed that unless there is concern of a deep bite wound between two cats, FIV is not likey to be a concern to an FIV negative cat.

I personally allow my own cats to interact with my FIV+ cats, and they get along fabulously and after years of retesting my own, no one has "ever" tested positive for FIV after living, eating, and sleeping with the FIV+'s.

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.

All cats are vaccinated, dewormed, tested and altered as part of the adoption contract. This basic care (and other vet work required to make our rescues healthy) is included in the $85 adoption donation!
