Look at Willy now, 8/30/10! He is doing great. Successfully saved by the Cat Shack, this awesome guy is ready for a loving, forever home. His eye looks great, and he just looks like he is winking. Willy has no clue he only has one eye, and catches flies better than his feline friend Clover, which has two eyes. Willy has excellent litter-box manners. He loves to play with his best friend Clover, another foster cat that lay by Willy’s cage while he was recovering. Now that Willy is feeling great, he runs around the house like a kitten. Willy likes our dog. He is a little shy. He lies on the floor near us but has not come up on the coach to snuggle yet. Willy does love to be petted. Willy will make someone a great pet, and he deserves a great home.

Willy was rescued on July 24, 2010 from the streets of Reading. He was a friendly stray with a horrible eye injury. His eye has been removed, and Willy is now recovering in his foster home. Willy has a great personality despite his discomfort. Willy’s injury was caused by trauma to his eye and was left untreated too long. It is very likely Willy was a house cat at some time, because he is very fond of our dog and has great litter-box manners. A young girl saw Willy and posted his picture on her Face-book page. Luckily, for Willy, this picture was seen by a Cat-Shack volunteer, and a rescue operation was underway. Thanks to the girl’s family, the Cat-Shack volunteer was able to find Willy.

Willy's surgery and care is expected to exceed $700 and donations are gladly being accepted to help with this cost.  So far, $100 was donated through a grant from the United Animal Nations.
Willy will have his stitches removed in early August. He is expected to make a full recovery. He already has made friends with another foster cat, named Clover, who likes to sit quietly by Willy’s cage to comfort him. Even though, Willy is groggy from his pain medication, his motor runs every time we pet or talk to him. Willy has a good appetite. Willy was named after One-Eyed Willy from the Goonies movie.

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.

The first step in adoption is to...

Young KITTENS are always adopted in Pairs or to homes with other felines already in the home. Click here to read why kittens are happier with a buddy!

All cats are vaccinated, dewormed, tested and altered as part of the adoption contract. This basic care (and other vet work required to make our rescues healthy) is included in the $85 adoption donation!
