***ADOPTED! 12/20/10***

Rosie is a wonderful, people-friendly, 7 year old, spayed female St. Bernard who is urgently in need of a new loving home. Rosie was rescued from an over-crowded, high kill shelter when she was just over a year old. Several months later and 30 pounds heavier, Rosie was adopted to a couple with whom she enjoyed the good life for over 5 years. Long term unemployment and all the related problems caused Rosie to be returned to her original rescuer and foster Mom, and poor Rosie is now waiting anxiously for a new permanent home. Unfortunately, Rosie is living in a horse barn while she waits and she is very lonely and unhappy there, despite her foster Mom’s best efforts.

Rosie has PERFECT manners in the house, responds beautifully to basic commands and can be left alone for long periods of time with no difficulty.  She loves to be with people and is extremely happy when she gets the chance to play with children. She is a rough coat Saint and weighs 135 pounds. She lived very happily with a male Great Dane for her last two years with her former owners,  but she was never socialized with smaller animals and is NOT GOOD WITH CATS OR DOGS SMALLER THAN SHE IS. Rosie has a high prey drive (hunting instinct) and thinks that most other animals are meant to be pursued. Leash walking Rosie can be challenging because she will suddenly lunge if something excites her, and her strenth and power make her difficult for a smaller or even average size person to hold on those occasions. She has had several sessions with a trainer/behaviorist and has improved significantly wearing a gentle leader, but still requires a physically strong person and/or an experienced large dog handler to safely manage her on the leash. Rosie will be adopted ONLY to a home which has a securely fenced yard in which she can run freely, exercise and play.

Rosie loves to go for rides in the car and has done well being boarded at the vet hospital and being professionally groomed on numerous occasions. She is fully up to date on vet care and has never had any health problems. She is a truly sweet dog who craves the loving attention of her owners and will be a wonderful companion in return. Please contact Trinka, Rosie’s foster Mom, at 610-737-0888 or catnut @yahoo.com for more information. An excellent vet reference, home visit/fence check and adoption fee are required.

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.

The first step in adoption is to...

Young KITTENS are always adopted in Pairs or to homes with other felines already in the home. Click here to read why kittens are happier with a buddy!

All cats are vaccinated, dewormed, tested and altered as part of the adoption contract. This basic care (and other vet work required to make our rescues healthy) is included in the $85 adoption donation!
