This cat is available for adoption directly from his owner.  In some cases we assist pet owners or rescuers who are adopting out their pet directly from their home by listing the pet for them on our pet list web page. In these cases you will deal directly with the pet's owner. Contact information for these "adopt from owner" pets will be provided. In cases of direct adoptions from an owner, the terms of adoption will be dictated by the owner, not The Cat Shack.

Yorick's rescuer tells us the following about him:

I have a cat that is around 6 years old.  I found him as a stray about 1 1/2 months ago.  He's already neutered and front declawed when I found him. I took him to my vet and he's FeLV and FIV negative and I had him wormed. His name is Yorick and for all intensive purposes he acts more like a dog than a cat.  He loves to have his belly rubbed and loves to get his ears scratched. I have two kids and he absolutely LOVES them too.

The only thing that Yorick does not like though is other cats.  He's a huge boy weighing in at about 19lbs and a giant love bug.  But when he gets around the other cats he turns into a giant ball of scared mush.  He doesn't hiss at them or try to bat them but he gets really worked up and stressed out.

He's such a doll baby! He has been around a calm dog and was cautious but seemed to do ok.

Right now I've been keeping him in my room to try and help him and he loves it in there but if one of the other cats comes in it takes me FOREVER to coax him out from under my bed and it's just
not fair to him.  I love him to death but unfortunately my home is just not best for him.  I think the best thing would be him as an only cat in a family with kids.
