10/1/2010 Update- Dakota's kittens have all found homes.  Now it is Dakota's turn to have a real family.

Original post:  Dakota wandered to a very nice womans house last November, but would not stay inside even on the coldest of days.  So the woman made a shelter for Dakota on her patio where she would feed her & her and have her morning coffee outside with her.   The woman didn't realize that Dakota was expecting until 2 weeks before she had her kittens.  After Dakota had her kittens, the woman knew she needed to find somewhere safe for Dakota to raise her kittens, so she called The Cat Shack.   We picked Dakota & her kittens up & they have been adjusting very well to being inside!  She is such a good mommy!

Dakota is about 1 & 1/2 yrs old & will be able to be adopted once her kittens are old enough.  Dakota's kittens born on May 3rd (3 boys & 1 girl), Simon, Simba, Teddy & Daisy will also be available for adoption when they are 8 weeks old.    The kittens must be adopted in pairs or with their mommy Dakota or into a household where there is another young cat.

All cats are vaccinated, dewormed, tested and altered as part of the adoption contract. This basic care (and other vet work required to make our rescues healthy) is included in the $85 adoption donation! All adopters also get starter cat food. Please note that we conduct home visits, so we restrict our adoptions to a 1 hour drive time from the Lehigh Valley area in PA.

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.
