7/4/10- New Pictures! Violet has been waiting and waiting- she needs a new home for independence day! This sweet, loving, quiet cat was left behind by her former owners with a new litter of kittens. She was picked up by animal control and then almost euthanized at a local kill shelter. Luckily, she and her babies were taken in at the last minute by the Cat Shack. Once in foster care our vets determined that she had a bleeding injury due to the birth of her kittens that required an emergency spay. This whole time Violet kept feeding her kittens, even as her own strength slipped away. We had to bottle feed the babies in order to let Violet recover. She is now very healthy, happy and plump! All of her kitten have long been adopted, but so far Violet is still waiting and waiting. She gets along with other cats and is very unassuming. She is quiet and will need a week or so to settle in before she feels 100% comfortable, but once she feels like part of the family she is a purring sweetheart. FeLV/FIV neg, vaccinated and spayed. (Original post) 5/4/10- this gorgeous mom and kittens were originally taken from an apartment where they were not being cared for properly. Violet ended up in a kill shelter along with her 2 day old kittens. Because the shelter was overfull, this little family came to the Cat Shack. Violet's foster family became concerned when they noticed violet continued to bleed well after the kittens were born. Although Violet was an excellent mom to her babies even while she was obviously experiencing discomfort, she was scheduled for an emergency spay surgery to save her life. She has recovered well and her babies are being bottle-fed.

Violet is now spayed, vaccinated, tested Neg for FeLV/FIV and heartworms. She is a very mild mannered, quiet cat that gets along with everyone. She may need a few days to warm up, but once she does she is a total lap cat!

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.

The first step in adoption is to...

Young KITTENS are always adopted in Pairs or to homes with other felines already in the home. Click here to read why kittens are happier with a buddy!

All cats are vaccinated, dewormed, tested and altered as part of the adoption contract. This basic care (and other vet work required to make our rescues healthy) is included in the $85 adoption donation!
