In some cases we assist pet owners or rescuers who are adopting out their pet directly from their home by listing the pet for them on our pet list web page. In these cases you will deal directly with the pet's owner. Contact information for these "adopt from owner" pets will be provided. In cases of direct adoptions from an owner, the terms of adoption will be dictated by the owner, not The Cat Shack.
Callie is available for adoption directly from her owner. Here is what she told us about Callie:
We have had to make some tough decisions due to our finances and we will need to find a new home for our cat. She is a 1-1/2 year old female Manx and she is spayed and front declawed.
Callie is wonderful. She has a great personality. She's an excellent bug hunter. We have these wolf spiders that somehow get into our home which are the size of a quarter and she always prowls around killing them for us. She is a beautiful tiger striped color and she is a Manx so she does have the shorter tail although hers is 3/4 length so it is not the real short one. She is on the tiny side and I believe when she was at the Vet last she was about 9 pounds. She hardly sheds at all which we were pleasantly surprised with since we are used to friends cats who shed a ton!
She does not have any health problems and she doesn't have any issues with using her litter box. She is an inside only cat but she will venture out to our screened in porch occasionally but you can tell she wants nothing to do with actually going outside the house which is good since she is declawed. She loves to play with toy mice or anything else she can use as toys. I joke that sometimes she is worse than our kids. She will go right over to her 'toy basket' and pull out the little furry mice and play with them all over throwing them up in the air.
We have a dog right now so she is great with dogs. She has no issues walking right up to our English Setter and playfully smacking him in the face. We have a 5 year old little boy and a 2 year old little girl and she lets them walk right up to her and pet her. She is nice to guests that come over. Over all she is just a wonderful temperament and family pet.
She is so tolerant of the children.
This has been an agonizing decision for us but we know it's in her best interest as far as being able to stay up to date with shots, etc. We had to make a decision between our dog or our cat and we've had our dog Winston for almost 6 years and we adopted him through a rescue agency and just don't want him at 7 years old to go through finding another home. He's been through so much and Callie is younger so we believe she will have a better chance at getting a new home. I can get paperwork from our Veterinarian for what vaccines, etc she has had thus far.

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA. The first step in adoption is to...
