Snowball is a cute, pure white female who was rescued along with another young cat during frigid weather in January 2022. The youngsters were in a strange location, quite a distance away from any houses, so it seems likely that they had been dumped. Judged by the vet hospital to be only 8 months old at the time, it was a surprise to find that Snowball had already been spayed. She and her companion were freezing cold and terribly hungry. Both almost immediately went into traps as soon as the traps were set. Snowball's companion was quickly adopted but Snowball still waits for her forever home.

Snowball is very friendly with her foster mom and greatly enjoys being petted. She comes running at feeding time and rubs up against her foster mom's legs. She gets along well with the other cats in her multi-cat foster facility, though has no attachment to any one cat in particular. She has a short, compact build and her beautiful white fur is very dense.

Snowball had what appeared to be a typical upper respiratory infection when she was rescued. Unfortunately, a variety of different antibiotics have been tried wiithout success in resolving that infection entirely. Snowball's right eye is affected but her left eye is, and always has been, perfectly clear. She sneezes occasionally and has a very small amount of discharge from her nose which is generally noticeable only under close inspection. Various eye medications have been tried as well and Snowball is now maintained with a small amount of an ophthalmic ointmnent once or preferably twice daily in her affected eye.

Something strange had happened to the upper outside portions of Snowball's ears. The hair is missing and the edges of the ears look a bit rough. Perhaps it was frostbite: we don't know for sure. No treatment is nescssary and Snowball has no discomfort related to her ears. There has been no change in the condition of the ears during her time in foster care.

Snowball needs and deserves an adopter who will love her as she is and provide her with the extra element of care that she requires. Please file an application if you think you might be that special person for Snowball. Her foster Mom will be very happy to speak with you.

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.

All cats are vaccinated, dewormed, tested and altered as part of the adoption contract. This basic care (and other vet work required to make our rescues healthy) is included in the $85 adoption donation!
