This very cute and friendly little fellow first appeared as a young stray at the home of an elderly woman who was already feeding and caring for 3 feral cats. Shadow was quickly neutered and soon joined the other 3 cats, coming and going from the lady's back porch for food and shelter. The lady named him Shadow because he followed her closely every time she went outside into her yard. She could not bring him into her home because her house cat would not permit that!

All was well until one day in July 2009 when Shadow appeared to suffer a severe seizure. With the help of Cat Shack, Shadow was seen by a vet and diagnosed with vestibular disease, which is similar in some ways to vertigo in humans. It is a problem related to the inner ear which causes a loss of normal balance and orientation which can be so severe that a cat may be temporarily paralyzed and unable to right itself. The symptoms gradually subside over several days or a few weeks. In some cases, a cat may be left with a permanent head tilt and balance that is not completely normal. Such is the case with Shadow. His disability is very slight and he is completely unaware of it himself! He is once again a happy, active cat, but it will not be safe for him to return to an outdoor living situation.

Shadow will come to you for attention and can be picked up and held. He enjoys the company of other cats and seems unconcerned about dogs. He is about 2 1/2 years old as of September 2009. He is primarily black in color, but has white on his chest and several more splashes of white on his underside. His disability is very slight and he is a very loving and appealing little cat. Please consider inviting Shadow to be a member of your family!

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.

The first step in adoption is to...

Young KITTENS are always adopted in Pairs or to homes with other felines already in the home. Click here to read why kittens are happier with a buddy!

All cats are vaccinated, dewormed, tested and altered as part of the adoption contract. This basic care (and other vet work required to make our rescues healthy) is included in the $85 adoption donation!
