Poconos, PA. This is a courtesy post. Ralphie is a stray kitty I rescued in early July 2017 that was skinny and kept showing up on my back porch to eat. We quickly discovered that he was super friendly to people, and, to our surprise, the ultimate lap cat. We could not keep him but wanted to help him after seeing what a super cat he was. I got him to my vet first where he rec'd an exam, got tested for FIV and FeLV and was negative, given a dewormer and antibiotics. He was also treated for fleas. The vets estimate him to be somewhere between 2 and 4 yrs. old. A little later The Cat Shack helped get him neutered and his rabies and distemper vaccinations. What he needs now is a loving family. He is one of the most good natured, well behaved, and loving cats I have ever spent time with. Surprisingly for a former unneutered male stray he has proven to be the ULTIMATE lap cat. When we spend time with him in our garage, he wants nothing more to do than cuddle with you in your lap and be petted and brushed, all the while purring and purring. He would stay in your lap for hours if you were there that long. He is extremely tolerant of being touched just about anywhere, and even did not object to having a collar put on. Based on his friendliness which I observed to the ferals that also visit my back yard and porch, he appears to like other cats. But I think the best adopter(s) for him would be someone (or a couple) who really wants a companion cat that would want to spend as much time as possible cuddling with his human(s) and laying in their lap. The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.

Young KITTENS are always adopted in Pairs or to homes with other felines already in the home. Click here to read why kittens are happier with a buddy!

All cats are vaccinated, dewormed, tested and altered as part of the adoption contract. This basic care (and other vet work required to make our rescues healthy) is included in the $85 adoption donation!
