Sassy is a lovely cat who recently went through some tough times. She was abandoned and lived outside, and was shot in the back (bullet exited her chest) reportedly for chasing a squirrel and messing up a woman's mulch. The wound became infected and she needed surgery to debride the dead tissue and repair the gunshot wound. Fortunately, some very kind people found her and not only paid her vet bills, but took care of her during the first few critical days. Now, her sutures are out and it appears to be healing up well, but we are as of yet unsure how much function she will regain in her right front leg as the muscle and nerves were damaged. Currently she can put some weight on it, but not all, and has difficulty on hard floors (she slips) and with climbing.

Despite all this, she remains sweet as pie. She loves to be petted and scratched and seems happiest hanging out with people. She is wary of dogs, but would likely get used to polite dogs in time. She has lived with other cats and seems to prefer males but would likely get along with friendly females given proper introductions. She was spayed previously and she had her rabies vaccine and distemper updated. She's a very tidy cat with excellent litterbox manners.

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.

The first step in adoption is to...

Young KITTENS are always adopted in Pairs or to homes with other felines already in the home. Click here to read why kittens are happier with a buddy!

All cats are vaccinated, dewormed, tested and altered as part of the adoption contract. This basic care (and other vet work required to make our rescues healthy) is included in the $85 adoption donation!
