Update- May 2004. OJ passed away from lung cancer, probably spreading from his liver. He was a trooper until the end. He will be sadly missed by his foster mom and dad and everyone that knew him.

Update 11/3/03- looks like OJ may be getting owners that love him! he is currently in a foster-to-adopt situation and so far so good- wish OJ luck in realizing his life-long dream...a real home!

My name is OJ. I have a wonderful, sunny personality and I’m full of life at 14 years of age. It’s a funny bit of irony, but I was almost put to death a few years ago at the hands of my owner.

You see, my sister Bandit and I were no longer wanted by our owner because she was getting married. She called us funny names like “burden” and “annoying”, even though that isn’t our real names! She also noticed I was getting very thin and vomiting a lot, and my sister was getting, um, lets say a tad overweight with matted hair due to neglect. I guess my owner thought it was time for us to go so she didn’t have to look at us in poor health anymore, so she decided to drop us off at a local Kill shelter. Luckily we ended up in the home of a Cat Shack volunteer instead.

My sister Bandit had her matted hair cut away and was adopted quickly by a kind soul who keeps me informed about her progress. Bandit is doing GREAT! I went to a vet and found out I had “Hyperthyroid” problems, so I started taking a pill in my food everyday. It made me feel SO MUCH BETTER! I’ve gained weight and I don’t vomit anymore. Who would have thought a little pill would fix me right up?

Now I’m in a foster home with a bunch of other cats. I know my foster folks love me, and I really do like my foster people and Cat buddies. My one complaint is that the people don’t have that much time for me because they hang out with their “real” pets. I have to be honest with you….I would like to be a person’s “real” pet too. I’m active and happy, but I know I could be so much happier if I was a special pet to a person and could lavish my love on them! Is there anyone out there that would love me for whatever time I have left (I think I'll be here a long time!!) and never send me away?

OJ is 14 years old, neutered, 4 paw declawed, FeLV/FIV neg, vaccinated, hyperthyroid and VERY LOVING.

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.
