Cuddles story is one that might initially be seen as a sad one, but we are confident that with your help we can write a much happier next chapter in her book of life!

When she was just a baby in 2008, she was taken to a busy shelter in New York City.  This is a very overcrowded shelter where many cats enter, but few ever leave.  Cuddles was an adorable baby, and she was one of the lucky ones that managed to catch the eye of an adopter and go home to live with a family.  Nobody knows what happened over the next 4 years, but in 2012 Cuddles was found skinny and alone, inside of an abandoned Bronx apartment.  After this sad development, she went to live with another family but sadly, after 2 years with this new family she was taken back to the very shelter where she was adopted as a tiny, cute baby! This time Cuddles chances of getting out alive were much lower.  She was now a 6-year-old adult cat that looked as if she had not received much loving care.  Even though her owners said all nice things about her when they dropped her off, things like "Loves to Play!", "Well Behaved!",  "Very Friendly!", she was quickly put on the euthanasia list for Saturday, Oct 5th, 2014.  Luckily, her sweet personality and big, trusting eyes spoke of her potential and willingness to give humans another chance.  Her profile on the euthanasia list caught the attention of rescue volunteers that wanted to show this cat that there were some humans out there that would not break her trust.  Through the efforts of several different rescues Cuddles was snatched to safety with just hours to go before she was just another lousy statistic.

Cuddles is now safe in foster care and we've promised her that the next time she goes home with an adopter, she will always be considered a permanent family member.  She deserves a home where she will remain a priority and accompany her owners during every change in residence, though every relationship change, every birth, additions of new puppies or kittens, and even if she gets older and less playful she needs to  know she is wanted.  Are you the right person to start writing Cuddles new book of life?

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.

The first step in adoption is to...

Young KITTENS are always adopted in Pairs or to homes with other felines already in the home. Click here to read why kittens are happier with a buddy!

All cats are vaccinated, dewormed, tested and altered as part of the adoption contract. This basic care (and other vet work required to make our rescues healthy) is included in the $85 adoption donation!
