|
STELLA is a beautiful black cat with medium to long fur. A sweet little lady. She lived in the Pocono Mountains all winter and had a nice couple feeding her. She had to fight with bully male and cats and raccoons for her food and she was pregnant.
Stella chose one of the shelters made for her and had her 6 little babies on a cold spring day. The couple trapped her and realized she was not pregnant anymore and searched for the kittens and found them in a dog house with straw inside it.
They scooped the family up and met me at Petsmart. They spent the night in a warm foster room snug in a cage. The next day we went to the vet. Stella had a very high fever, respiratory infection and tested FIV POSITIVE. We were all sad about that outcome. Stella was given an antibiotic shot and oral antibiotics. This little momma was sick.
She hid from her foster mom and would not nurse her babies. We were worried about her survival. The kittens were bottle fed. THe kittens were very ill also. They were sent a highly experienced bottle feeder and they were tube fed and given antibiotics and IV fluids. BUt 4 of the little ones did not survive. TWO did survive and were adopted together .. Stella had very unusual babies. She is black her babies were pale grey white. Beautiful.
Stella has recovered nicely and has been been spayed and fattened up. She is very shy and skittish. She will sit and talk to me and wait for her food,,I have been able to pet her at times and she has never been aggressive towards me. She will talk and give me the little eye blinking but she has either never been a pet cat or has been on her own so long she is now skittish SHe really is sweet but not a lap cat. I thought at first she needed to be a barn cat but not any more. I have had her in my house for over a year. She has become more social but not over friendly. If someone would let her live in their home and work with her or let her be their indoor cat she will be your friend. She just needs a chance at a home.
Please consider her for your home i ..just needs a warm home and regular meals. She can live a long normal life with FIV and can only pass the virus if a large amount of blood is passed. She will not be going into heat or reproducing so no danger in virus passing through this path.

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA. The first step in adoption is to...
