May 2006

Thank you so much to all the generous people who helped to make Nakita's surgery possible. She had the surgery and came through it great! She will have a longer time for a full recovery because the surgery was extensive, but now will have the chance at a normal life without suffering. And the greatest news of all - Nakita has found her forever home! She is currently trying to settle into new home and enjoy her brand new life with her brand new family. Thank you so much for giving Nakita a new lease on life with her new family!!!

PLEASE HELP NAKITA! This sweet girl was brought to a kill shelter by her owners because they had moved to a new home and she did not “fit in” anymore. She is 8-9 years old and was not spayed. Because she was not spayed by her owners, she developed tumors on her mammaries. These growths were left untreated by her owners and then at the kill shelter. She was written off as unadoptable at the shelter and was scheduled to be euthanized. Luckily for her, she was rescued from the shelter by a volunteer who knew that she was worth saving. A veterinary consult has revealed that she needs quick intervention. If she is spayed now and the tumors that currently exist are removed (this will require a partial mastectomy) she will be spared suffering with continued tumors and more complications. Left unspayed (the spaying will stop the production of the growths) and left with the current growths, Nakita’s future will be a that of suffering. We must help her to live out her life as she deserves. With the surgery, she will be able to live out her life with great health. The surgery will cost approximately $1000. We need your help to give Nakita the chance she deserves. She is an energetic loving dog who is healthy in all other ways. While she is not the usual recipient of our help, but the Catshack could not sit by and watch her suffer. Please help by making a donation to Nakita’s new life.

All donations to help pay for the surgery that is necessary for Nakita may be sent directly to the veterinarians office. Please mark the checks "Nakita Fund" and send them to:

Notes: This adorable, very lovable dog was originally rescued from a kill shelter after her owners decided they didn't have the time or interest in their loyal pet anymore and dumped her without a second thought. This sweet dog is now being offered for adoption through her rescuer and will be adopted directly .

This is what her rescuer had to say: "Nakita is a lovable girl with so much care and concern for people. She gets along with cats and tries to be everybody's best friend! She is approximately 8-9 yrs. old and is current on her shots. She has plenty of pep but really likes to cuddle next to someone and have her belly rubbed. "

Nakita is currently living in a home with 5 people and several cats! She is referred to often just as “Puppy” because of her youthful appearance and demeanor. She is great with the children and the cats that live at her foster home.

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.

The first step in adoption is to...

All cats are vaccinated, dewormed, tested and altered as part of the adoption contract. This basic care (and other vet work required to make our rescues healthy) is included in the $85 adoption donation!
