4/2/2014  Aloe and her beautiful stubby tail are now ready for adoption!

3/13/2014
Although Aloe is an unusually happy, sweet cat, it became clear to her forster mom that Aloe's tail was causing her problems.  A vet visit/X-rays confirmed that her spine was fractured near her pelvis, and as a result the circulation to her tail was compromized.  The vet suggested that this injury may have been the result of Aloe being picked up and swung by her tail.  A portion of her tail has already died, causing swelling and discomfort.  It was clear that her tail needed to be amputated.  Happily with the help of donations from supporters, the tail Amputation was performed and Aloe almost immediately started feeling and looking better!  She suddently showed that she can jump, run and play!

This lovely gray and white tabby girl was reportedly found as a stray and taken to a local shelter where she was at great risk of being euthanized due to an itchy skin condition.  Sadly, Aloe would have been euthanized if she remained at this high-intake shelter.   The shelter has a great outreach program to try to save as many animals as possible, so they contact the Cat Shack to see if we could step in to save this sweet cat.  Luckily we could!

Aloe is VERY friendly, constently seeking attention, and has marks on her neck indicating she had a collar.  She purrs happily while eating and has perfect litterbox manners.  We suspect that she was at one time a pet.

FeLV/FIV negative, vaccinated, dewormed and Spayed

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.

The first step in adoption is to...

Young KITTENS are always adopted in Pairs or to homes with other felines already in the home. Click here to read why kittens are happier with a buddy!

All cats are vaccinated, dewormed, tested and altered as part of the adoption contract. This basic care (and other vet work required to make our rescues healthy) is included in the $85 adoption donation!
