3/7/2014  Bubba has GLAMOUR SHOTS!  Look at this handsome boy now! He's just the nicest, friendliest cat we've met in a long time.  He's spent some time in our adoption cages at the petsmart in Whitehall and visited several events and he takes everything in stride.  We just can't say enough about how wonderful this cat is.  He deserves a great home soon!  Are you the lucky person that gets to adopt Bubba?

1/24/2014- what a diffrence!!  Bubba is now beautiful, neutered, up to date and READY for a lucky adopter to take him home! He has graduated to the large walk-in cage at his foster homes and BOY is he playful. He is now available for adoption and should do well in any home. Bubba is an ADORABLE young adult, felv/fiv neg, very grateful to be rescues, perfect litter-box manners, loves everyone, eats anything. The perfect cat!  He seems to get along with other cats.  He met some dogs at the vet office and did great, but then he got scared when they barked at him.  Cat-friendly dogs should be fine.

1/6/2014-new (blurry) picture!  Bubba is looking much better.  He's so darn friendly and sweet he's hard to photograph.  Now that he is feeling better he wants to head-butt and rub all over the photographer.  Bubba has received 1 dose of ivermectin and his 2nd dose of revolution.  His Mange is well on it's way out and he looks and feels like a different cat.  This boy is going to make someone a wonderful pet!

12/25/2013 Bubba is a Cat Shack "Christmas rescue".  He found himself in an unfortunate situation- a cat with an uncomfortable case of mange, abandonded in an over-crowded city shelter.  This particular shelter tries to place every animal that it possible can, but unfortunately sometimes hard choices have to be made.  Bubba's situation was looking grim and he was running out of time.  Bubba's Christmas Miracle happened thanks to the shelter's excellent outreach program, available isolation-space in a Cat Shack foster home and a caring transport volunteer, Bubba now has a 2nd chance!

Please enjoy the following short story that starts Bubba's story.  This is written by his transport volunteer, Linda.

"I just want to share with you how I know Bubba is a super cat considering I never should have seen him out of his carrier due to his contagious mangey condition!

You know how things unexpectedly happen during transport/rescue? Well it happened yesterday! I had originally emailed the shelter on Sunday night to see if the transport for Bubba was filled. I was told that it was, but there was a pair of bunnies that needed transport so I should come in. When I got to the shelter, I checked my email and saw that Bubba's transport had fallen through so of course, there was no question that I would take him too. I saw Bubba in the shelter and he looked SO sad and uncomfortable, but still sweet even in his misery. They boxed him up in a cardboard carrier and put a sheet over it to contain his mange spores. We got down the road maybe ten minutes and Bubba started to whine and scratch. A lot. A few more minutes and ala "Alien", he came bursting through the side of the carrier!! The mange boy was loose!!! I was trying to merge into traffic on 76 with a mange cat and a carrier of bunnies all in the front seat!! But here is the deal: Bubba just wanted out. He had peed and wanted out of the carrier. Once he got out, he just looked at me with that old soul face and laid down on the seat. He was so tired and glad to be out, I almost cried looking at him. I put the sheet over him to contain his spore-tasticness as much as possible and just kept my hand on his back. He just laid on the seat the entire trip. He is a mellow and sweet boy...not a fuss was made, no running around in the car, just grateful to be out of his pee carrier and sitting with a person who gave a crap.

It breaks my heart that an owner would let their companion suffer like he has. But Bubba's heart has no hate in it. I actually cried after I dropped him at the vet because I fell in love with him just that fast! What a wonderful boy. Please keep me posted on him...he deserves the best. Just wanted you to know that he is a special, special boy and thank you so much for letting him have another chance to enjoy his Book of Life!!"

Adopting from The Cat Shack

The Cat Shack rescue is all volunteer and the adopted cats are delivered to your home. Because we deliver the cats to you, we must restrict the adoptions of our highly adoptable cats to a 1 hour drive from the Allentown PA area. In certain situations, 'special-needs' cats, ferals and older cats will be adopted to homes at a greater distance then a 1 hour drive from Allentown PA.

The first step in adoption is to...

Young KITTENS are always adopted in Pairs or to homes with other felines already in the home. Click here to read why kittens are happier with a buddy!

All cats are vaccinated, dewormed, tested and altered as part of the adoption contract. This basic care (and other vet work required to make our rescues healthy) is included in the $85 adoption donation!
